License & Tiers
O.D.I.N. is licensed under the Business Source License 1.1 (BSL 1.1). The license automatically converts to Apache 2.0 on February 7, 2029. Until then, the BSL restriction is: you may not offer O.D.I.N. as a hosted service to third parties.
You are free to self-host, modify, and use O.D.I.N. for your own print farm operations without restriction.

Community
The free tier for individuals and small workshops. Up to 5 printers and 1 user with full access to core fleet management features: printer monitoring, job scheduling, model library, spool inventory, and the dashboard.
Pro
For serious print farms and makerspaces. Unlimited printers and users with full access to every feature: Vigil AI, SSO, analytics, webhooks, multi-org, and all notification channels.
Education
The same feature set as Pro at a discounted rate for accredited educational institutions (universities, schools, libraries, community colleges). Contact us for verification.
Enterprise
For organizations that need priority support, SLAs, or custom licensing terms. Includes everything in Pro plus direct support access and flexibility on deployment requirements.
License Activation
O.D.I.N. uses Ed25519 digital signatures for license validation. No license server, no cloud dependency, no phone-home.
How It Works
- You receive a license key (a base64-encoded signed payload)
- Enter the key in Settings > License
- O.D.I.N. verifies the Ed25519 signature locally against the embedded public key
- The license payload contains your tier, printer limit, user limit, and expiration date
- Features are unlocked immediately based on the tier
License Key → Ed25519 Signature Verify (local) → Tier Unlocked
License validation is entirely local. The signature is verified against a public key embedded in the application binary. No network request is made during activation or ongoing validation.
Air-Gap Compatible
O.D.I.N. works fully offline once activated. The license does not require periodic revalidation against an external server. This makes it suitable for:
- Air-gapped manufacturing environments
- Networks with strict outbound firewall rules
- Deployments without internet access
If your license is approaching expiration, you will see a warning in the dashboard 30 days before the expiry date. Renew early to avoid any interruption, especially in air-gapped environments where license delivery requires manual transfer.
Changing Tiers
To upgrade or change your license tier:
- Obtain a new license key for the desired tier
- Go to Settings > License
- Enter the new key — it replaces the previous license immediately
- New tier limits and features take effect without a restart
Downgrading (e.g., Pro to Community) applies the new limits immediately. If you exceed the Community printer limit, existing printers remain but you cannot add new ones until you are within the limit.
